Rock of Aging Talks The Big 4 of Thrash: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax // metal (VIDEO)

In this episode of Rock of Aging, we are talking about the harder side of 80's metal! Erika and Dave debate The Big 4 of Thrash: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. Let's just say that we don't see eye to eye on this part of the 80s metal scene.

For Dave's (Not So) Deep Dive, he is talking about a new band from Ireland called SPRINTS who has just released an EP called 'Trickle Down.' For Erika's Atmosphere Check, she sums up how she sees the differences between the Hollywood glam scene and the heavier, thrash scene.

Is This What Some People Consider Pornographic?

The above image is the cover art for the forthcoming Metallica album, Death Magnetic. Some are suggesting that the image features a subliminal, pornographic allusion to a certain female body part. I don't suggest that, and frankly, if you are, you have the dirty mind. I see the grave and casket as representing "death" (obviously) and for the "magnetic" part, it is the dirt moving away from the casket. It's like magnetic particles being pulled away by a larger magnetic (or something like that). I don't know about any larger meaning, but I don't see anything sexual about it. Save the deep thinking for analysis of the album's content (i.e. the music).

Member of Metallica Confused with Member of the Taliban

(Gigwise) Metallica frontman James Hetfield was denied entry into Luton airport yesterday, when security officials pulled him over.

The rocker was prevented from leaving the airport terminal once he got off the plane because of his ‘Taliban-like beard’, The Times reports.

After a brief interrogation in which Hetfield explained he was in a world-famous rock band, officials apparently let him go.

Hetfield and Metallica are in the country for their two day sting at Wembley Stadium. They play Live Earth on Saturday and headline the national stadium on Sunday with support from Machine Head, HIM, Bullet For My Valentine and Mastodon.

UPDATE 7/11/07: According to US Weekly, this story is a hoax.
