Drakes Hotel Live Tonight at Barley Street Tavern

Omaha band, Drakes Hotel, is performing tonight at The Barley Street Tavern (2735 N. 62nd St). This is a rare Omaha appearance from the band, who have been playing out less lately.

I got word from the band that they will be playing first, so their set should start around 9pm.

Before hitting the show, make sure to check out Drakes Hotel's appearance on The Dark Stuff Podcast #108:

The Dark Stuff Podcast 108: Drakes Hotel

The Dark Stuff Podcast #108 features an interview with and music by Omaha duo, Drakes Hotel. Drakes Hotel is Amy Drake and Chris Y, and together, they have recorded four albums and an EP. The band's music has drawn comparisons to artists like Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, The Raveonettes, and Psychadelic Furs. Chris and Amy are married and have been making music together for over a decade. After stints in Seattle and Portland, the duo made Omaha home.

I discovered Drakes Hotel by accident -- seeing them open for Crocodiles -- and have been a fan ever since. Chris and Amy came down to the bunker for an interview, and I learned an awful lot about this talented twosome. For example, the band has had its music appear in TV shows such as Being Human and Lost Girl on the SyFy Network. You may already know the music without realizing it!

The following songs were used with permission: "Leave It Dark" "Here's to the Days" "Broadcast to the Addicted" and "From Over". All songs ©DH Music. The music can be purchased through CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/DrakesHotel1.

Thanks for listening. Enjoy. ©2014 The Dark Stuff Podcast

Tonight's Interview

Tonight I will be interviewing Omaha band, Drakes Hotel for the Dark Stuff Podcast. The husband and wife duo has been playing around Omaha for years, and has released a number of albums and EPs. Despite being on the scene for a while, I have discovered that many in the music community are still uncertain who Drakes Hotel is. Hopefully, after the podcast, that will change.
