Go See IT'S TRUE Saturday at Waiting Room

I'm giving you all an extra day's notice on this one so you can clear your calendar. Omaha's best and brightest, It's True, are performing Saturday night at The Waiting Room.

It's True @ Waiting Room 11/14/09

If you haven't seen the band yet, this is your shot. If you have, then you know what to expect. The band will undoubtedly be performing songs from their excellent, forthcoming full length album, and tightening up their live chops for their appearance at this year's SXSW Music Conference in Austin, TX in March.

Saturday's show is extra cool because Eagle*Seagull is also on the bill. A few years back, it looked like Eagle*Seagull was going to be the breakaway band from the area. It still might happen for them, but regardless, seeing these two bands on the same stage will be a treat. Also playing is Cowboy Indian Bear, and tickets are $7 at the door. See you there.

Eagle Seagull TONIGHT at Slowdown

It's looking like I will be hitting up the Slowdown tonight to catch Lincoln's finest, Eagle Seagull. It's been something like two years since I've seen the band, and they are always impressive. Still don't know what the hell happened to that second album of theirs, but that's another story (the band's website promises an announcement on that very soon. uh huh.).

Tickets are $8, and Honey & Darling, Mighty Tiger, & The Answer Team are opening.

Lincoln Invades Omaha While Dave Ponders Where To Invade

Music this weekend is pretty much dominated by the Lincoln Invasion Festival in Benson. The shows take place at three different venues: The Waiting Room, The Barley Street, and PS Collective (all are on Maple St or adjacent to it)

Most of the good Lincoln bands are represented (The Show is the Rainbow, Domestica, Ideal Cleaners) with the exception of Eagle*Seagull. The Lincoln Journal Star has a write-up on the event for more details.

New Eagle*Seagull Music

Lincoln, Nebraska's fantastic Eagle*Seagull have just released a new 5-song EP called I Hate EPs. The album is available in a limited edition vinyl format that can be purchased directly from the band, or bought digitally on itunes.

Yesterday on Lazy-i, Tim reported that the E*S record is limited to 500 copies, and each features a hand screened cover. The digital version of the release features three additional tracks. E*S also said they will have a new full-length album out soon on a new label, but did not give any additional details. (I heard a rumor that it was the label owned by Starbucks coffee. I'd hate to have to go to Starbucks to buy a CD, but for Eagle*Seagull, I guess I could make an exception.)

I Finally Crossed Joe Jackson Off My Bucket List! My Review + My (Incomplete) Collection (VIDEO)

This week, I crossed one off the ol' bucket list!  For years, seeing Joe Jackson live was one of those concerts I hoped would happen so...
