Podcast #26 spotlights the hard-drivin', pop-punk band, The Meices. The Meices formed in 1991 in San Francisco and quickly became the toast of the town. After some regional touring in the Northwest, the band was signed to Seattle's eMpTy Records.
Due to the positive response toward their debut CD, Greatest Bible Stories Ever Told, and the favorable musical climate of the time, The Meices were signed to major label London Records for their second album, 1994's Tastes Like Chicken.
Thanks to some praise from Beavis and Butthead and a soundtrack appearance on a Liv Tyler movie, The Meices were played on MTV, and the expectations for the next record were huge. Producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies) was enlisted to take the band to the next level. That third album, Dirty Bird, ended up being The Meices' final release.
I caught up with guitarist/singer/songwriter Joe Reineke who took some time away from his recording studio to reminisce about his time in The Meices. In between the interview clips, I've got songs from all of The Meices albums as well as some rarities.
