Song of the Day: The Gossip "Standing in the Way of Control"

Dance punk? In my view, the music of LCD Soundsystem is punk rock created by dance music guys. The Gossip, however, is just the opposite. This is a band of punks playing dance music. A minor semantic change, but a major musical one.

I caught this Portland, OR band a few months back as the opener for Sleater-Kinney. In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that I spent more trime drinking beer than watching The Gossip that night. Perhaps that was a mistake.
